Breen expresses sympathy following death of Fr John O’Keeffe RIP

June 13th, 2013 - Pat Breen

Clare T.D. and Chairman of the Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade Pat Breen has today (Tuesday) paid a warm tribute to the Retired Parish Priest of Cranny/Coolmeen Fr John O’Keeffe RIP who passed away today.

“I was deeply saddened to hear today that Fr John O’Keeffe has passed away. Fr John was a very popular man who was loved by everybody who knew him. He was a dedicated, devout and humble man, and it was these qualities that endeared him to the people in every Parish that he served over the years.

He loved his pastoral work and he was deeply involved in the local Community. Through his Youth work he helped to raise awareness among young people of religion in a very practical way. He ran discos in the area and organised youth activities abroad. He loved rural live and regularly enjoyed a walk or cycle in the countryside.

He will be sorely missed by everybody that knew him and I would like to convey my deepest sympathy to his family, parishioners, friends, the Bishop of Killaloe and his fellow clergy men on their sad loss.”
