Clare T.D. and Chair of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade Pat Breen said today (Wednesday) the aviation sector in Shannon is growing and the economic recovery is spreading to the region.
“Over the last year AerCap has created 100 new positions in Shannon and Dublin. AerCap is a global leader in aviation leasing with operations in Dublin and Shannon. The company’s ongoing commitment to and investment in Shannon is an endorsement of the region as a place to do business.
“These highly skilled roles have been created in a number of areas including Sales and Marketing, Aircraft Technical, Legal, Contracts Management, Finance and Treasury.
“The investment is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland. A new Airbus A350 XWB, which has been flown into Dublin from Toulouse for today’s event, will form part of AerCap’s core fleet in the coming years and provide a platform for further growth. AerCap serves over 200 customers in 90 countries.
“Shannon is going from strength to strength. With Shannon Group PLC’s reputation for excellence, it is ideally placed as a centre of excellence for aviation related activities.
“Over 100,000 jobs have been added to the economy since the launch of the Action Plan for Jobs in 2012. All the jobs lost during the downturn will be replaced by 2018, with more people at work than ever before by 2020. More jobs mean less tax for people working and more revenue to provide better services.”
