Fine Gael TD for Clare, and Chair of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade, Pat Breen, has condemned the attacks in Paris and said that concerned Irish people should contact the Department of Foreign Affairs.
“My thoughts are with the people of France in the wake of the despicable acts of violence perpetrated in the city of Paris last night. There is no place in the world for terrorism of this nature.
“I spoke to the French ambassador to Ireland, Jean-Pierre Thébault, last night and conveyed my deepest sympathy and shock to him and people of France. He responded that the support of the people of Ireland is impressive as always.
“Minister for Foreign Affairs Charlie Flanagan has said that our Embassy in Paris is on stand-by to offer assistance to any Irish people affected by these events and the staff of the Embassy are on duty and monitoring the situation closely. Irish people in Paris who need to contact our Embassy there can do so at +33144176700.
“Consular staff in the Department of Foreign Affairs in Dublin are also on hand to take calls from concerned families here in Ireland and they may be contacted at any time at 01 408 2000.”
