Clare T.D. and Chair of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs & Trade Pat Breen has welcomed the news that Gael Scoil Ui Choimin in Kilrush has been included in the Governments School Building Programme 2016-2021
“I am delighted that Gaelscoil Ui Choimin in Kilrush has been included in the School Building Programme. I have been working closely with the School Authorities and Board of Management and liaising with the Department of Education and Skills on their behalf. The School is currently situated in rented accommodation and now needs improved facilities to meet their educational requirements going forward.
The Gaelscoil is an integral part of Kilrush and it has an excellent reputation for providing an all-round quality education for the students and it is making an enormous contribution to keeping the Irish language alive in West Clare.
This announcement is great news for Kilrush and represents the culmination of many years work by Bríd ni Chomhrai, Principal, staff and members of the Board of Management at the School and I pay tribute to them for their efforts.
Investment in our young people and their education system will reap multiple dividends for generations to come. This announcement spells a new era for the provision of education and the Irish language and the improved facilities will not only benefit the teachers and pupils attending GaelScoil Ui Coimín, it is a major boost for Kilrush and West Clare. “
