A new Era for Education in Ennistymon – BREEN.

November 17th, 2015 - Pat Breen

Welcoming the news that a new amalgamated Community College for Ennistymon has been given the green light in the Government’s School Building Programme 2016-2021 which was published today, Clare T.D. and Chair of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade Deputy Pat Breen said that the development spells a new era for education in the town.

“For years, the local Schools and Board of Management’s have been campaigning for a new Community College and I was very happy to lend my support to their campaign. They have spent endless hours pursuing this project and I would like to pay tribute to them for their hard work and dedication which has culminated in today’s decision.

Work on this development is now well underway. The project is included in the ADAPT (Architectural Design Accelerated Delivery and Tender) programme. A tender process for a topographical survey has been completed and a surveying contract awarded while tenders for the appointment of a design team have also been issued with a closing date of the 25th November 2015 for receipt of the tenders.

Once the various architectural and planning stages have been completed, the plan is for the school to proceed to construction in 2017.

The amalgamation and construction of a new Community College in Ennistymon will spell a new era for education in the town which will not only benefit the teachers and pupils but the improved facilities will be a major boost for this entire area of North Clare.”
