A number of West Clare Road Projects set to benefit as NRA funding allocations announced – BREEN.

Clare TD and Chairman of the Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs Pat Breen has welcomed the announcement by his colleague, Fine Gael Transport Minister Leo Varadkar, of €1,634,668 for road maintenance and improvement works in Clare.

“The roads allocations are made by the National Roads Authority to Local Authorities for National Roads in 2013. This is separate to the allocations made for regional and local roads which will be announced shortly,” Deputy Breen said.

“This funding is very welcome and a number of necessary road work projects are set to benefit and with further funding on the way for local roads, these allocations show the commitment by this Government to improve road services.

A total of €1, 634,668m will go towards improvement works in Clare and a number of important projects in West Clare have been given the green light.

€25,000 has been made available for construction to improve safety measures on the N67 Cross Roads with L6091/L6092 at Carnaun, €32,000 for the construction of safety measures at Circular Road in Kilkee, €31,000 for safety measures at the Bend at Carrowdotia North near Moneypoint with €5,000 for works at Caherea.”

Other projects to benefit in West Clare include Rineen were pavement and minor works will be carried out (€520,000), on the N67 at Cloonboy (€55,000) and repairs at Annagh on the N67 (€70,000).
As well as that the construction of a much needed Pedestrian Crossing in Ennistymon on the main street in Ennistymon has also been given the green light with €30,000 in funding allocated.

The remaining monies will be spent on maintaining the National Primary and Secondary routes in the County.”
