Information

Pat Breen was first elected to Dail Eireann in May 2002 and was successfully re-elected with an increased mandate in May 2007.

Pat is Fine Gaels’ Deputy Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, with special responsibility for Human Rights. Pat also serves on the prestigious Dail’s European Affairs Committee, whose main tasks include the monitoring, reviewing and reporting on the implications of EU policies for the future of the EU and for Ireland as a member of the EU.

Pat is Deputy Leader of the Irish Delegation to the Council of Europe having been appointed by his party leader Enda Kenny to lead the Fine Gael Delegation where he is a member of key Council Committees, monitoring the obligations and commitments of member states, developing economic affairs and overseeing relations with non-member countries.

Pat has previously served as his Party’s Deputy Spokesperson on Transport and Enterprise, and Enterprise, Trade and Employment with special responsibility for Small Business. He has also served as a member of the Oireachtas Transport Committee, the Privileges and Procedures Committee, the House Services Committee and the Committee on Enterprise and Small Business.

Prior to Pat’s election to Dail Eireann, he was a member of Clare County Council and the Vocational Educational Committee from June 1999 to 2002, having achieved the highest Fine Gael vote in the County.

Pat Breen has proven through his work as a committed public representative to be strong supporter of balanced infrastructural and industrial regional development and is a strong and effective voice for County Clare.

Pat is highly regarded as one of the hardest working and dedicated public representatives in Dail Eireann, working to secure the interests of the people of Clare, the region and Country as a whole..
