April 29th, 2015 - Pat Breen

Clare T.D. and Chairman of the Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs Pat Breen TD. has welcomed the news that the Heritage Council has approved funding in principle for 13 Clare heritage projects under the Community Heritage Grants Scheme for 2015

“I am very pleased that funding of €32,000 in principle has been approved for 13 Clare Heritage projects. The projects to benefit range from the Graveyard Artwork, Mapping & Interpretation on the Loop Head Peninsula, Loop Head Heritage Audit 2015, Kilrush Tidy Towns, the San Marcos Project, the O’Briens Bridge Community Group, the Burrenbeo Trust, Kilkeedy Graveyard Conservation Group The Sliabh Aughty Furnace Project – Conservation Management Plans Templemaley East Window Conservation Ogonnelloe Community Heritage Project, Moy Wood Conservation Actions and the Clarecastle Community Development Ltd

The successful Clare projects are part of the 197 heritage projects to benefit nationwide under the Scheme. And I like to thank the Heritage Council and the Minister for Arts Heritage and the Gaeltacht Heather Humphrey’s for supporting this Scheme. Minister Humphreys has provided direct funding of €250,000 for the scheme and when combined with the core funding from the Heritage Council and private sector funding, this scheme generates a total investment of up to €1 million.

Support for these projects has a very positive impact on local communities and I commend those involved in the projects for the work that they are doing to conserve our heritage and as well as the long term conservation benefits, this scheme is also playing an important role in supporting building and conservation jobs locally.”
