BREEN in Talks with NRA

November 9th, 2009 - Pat Breen

Fine Gael’s Deputy Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs and Clare T.D. Pat Breen met with officials of the NRA in Dublin this week. Deputy Breen had sought a meeting with the NRA following the recent fatality on the N18 Section of the Galway to Shannon Motorway.

Speaking after the Meeting Deputy Breen said that “It was a very positive Meeting, the NRA are aware of the concerns, they have visited the area and they advised me that they are working very closely with Clare County Council in an effort to improve the situation.”

“I urged the NRA to take immediate steps to improve Signage from the Slip Roads on to the Motorway and I also requested that they erect additional warning signs “Turn Back- Going the Wrong Way”, which are visible on many other motorways throughout this Country.

“They assured me that they would take a look at all the Slip Roads on to the Motorway and that following their investigations that they will revert back to me with their findings.”
