Fine Gael’s Deputy Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs and Clare T.D. Pat Breen has welcomed the setting up of the Clare Spring Water Company in Lissycasey, a project investing €4m in West Clare which has the potential to create up to 90 jobs.

“The news that up to 90 jobs could potentially be created by the setting up of Clare Spring Water Company in Lissycasey is very welcome particularly given the high number of job losses in this County over the past 12 months.”

“It is a big boost to Lissycasey and the West Clare area. I congratulate Tom and Paul Connellan for taking this initiative during these difficult economic times. In previous recessionary times a lot of small businesses have been formed which were the backbone of the success of our economy and many grew into major international companies exporting their products to global markets. I would urge the people of County Clare to support Clare Spring Water and I wish the Company well in this project.”

“The development of companies like Clare Spring Water highlights the importance of investing in the Green Economy. The Clare Spring Water Company has developed Ireland’s first bio-degradable and compostable plastic bottle which is due to go on sale in October.”

“There is enormous potential in the mid-west region in terms of renewable energy resources, particularly in the area of wave and wind energy. If the wave and wind energy in the Shannon Estuary was captured it could make a major contribution to regional and national electricity demand and we could become a centre of excellence in this area.”
