June 17th, 2011 - Pat Breen

Chairman of the Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Clare TD Pat Breen has today (Wednesday) welcomed the news that Clare County Council has lifted the “Boil Water Notice” for Ballyvaughan. Deputy Breen has expressed the hope that the problems which the people of Ballyvaughan have had to endure with poor water quality and intermittent water supply service has finally come to an end.

“The lifting of the Boil Notice is good news for the people of Ballyvaughan and has been made possible by the extension to Ballyvaughan from the €5 million new Lisdoonvarna Water Supply Scheme.”

“The people of Ballyvaughan have been very patient and have to endure a lot of problems with poor water quality now for quite some time. The village is one of North Clare’s prime tourist locations. It was voted one of the 10th Best Road Trips by Condė Nast Traveller and boasts a wide variety of restaurants, coffee shops, B&B’s and Hotels. Each year visitor’s throng to the area nestled in the heart of the Burren and it is important the area has a regular supply of good quality water.”
