Breen welcomes Ryanair‘s Winter Commitment to Shannon Airport.

June 5th, 2014 - Pat Breen

Clare T.D. and Chairman of the Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade Pat Breen has warmly

welcomed the announcement

“I am delighted that Ryanair is adding an additional five routes to their Schedule out of Shannon this winter. The new routes to Berlin, Fuerteventura, Krakow, Paris and Warsaw, bring to 10

the number of routes which the Airline will operate from Shannon this winter. They also plan to increase flights frequency to and from London Standsted from 12 to 14 per week. These new services will provide more than 300,000 extra seats in to Shannon which is very good news for this Region.

Ryanair responded very quickly early this year to the Government’s decision to axe the travel tax by adding new routes and capacity to their Shannon network and the abolition of this anti tourist tax has now been vindicated with the Airline doubling their winter capacity into Shannon Airport this year.

This Government’s is about ensuring that the right conditions exist for a flourishing Aviation Industry at Shannon Airport. Consultations have begun on the Draft National Aviation Plan which has been published by the Minister for Transport Leo Varakdar T.D., the State Airports (Shannon Group) Bill 2014 is making its way through the Oireachtas and today’s announcement by Ryanair will also greatly add to the renewed optimism about Shannon Airport among the tourism and business interests in the Region and bodes well for the Airport going forward.”
