Breen welcomes the return of Flybe Airlines to Shannon Airport

May 1st, 2013 - Pat Breen

Clare T.D and Chairman of the Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade Pat Breen has today (Wednesday) welcomed the return of Flybe Airlines to Shannon Airport. The Airline began the first of its three weekly flights from Shannon to Glasgow today.

“The return of Flybe Airlines to Shannon Airport after an absence of seven is a vote of confidence in the new Shannon Airport Authority and it is a welcome boost for the Business and Tourism Sectors here in County Clare, particularly given that this is the year of the Gathering.

Glasgow has always proved a popular destination for football tourism and this new service will allow those football tourists especially those travelling to games at Celtic Park easier access to the City.

Scotland is a key market for Ireland and we have a strong connection our two Countries. These new flights should prove popular with Scottish People and will help to attract additional inbound tourists to Clare.

The Glasgow Service will operate on Wednesday, Fridays and Saturdays and I would encourage the Business and Tourists who intend to travel to Glasgow to support this service which is very important in maintaining and developing the service at Shannon Airport.
