Clare Enterprise Board to receive an additional €120,000 to fund 19 additional jobs – Breen.

September 29th, 2011 - Pat Breen

Chairman of the Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs & Trade Pat Breen has welcomed the news today (Wednesday) that the Minister for Small Business John Perry has provided an additional €120,000 to the Clare County Enterprise Board to fund the creation of 19 additional jobs in 2011.

Overall Minister Perry is providing an additional €3.1 million to County and City Enterprise Boards directly to fund job creation projects in the remaining months of 2011. The additional funding is provided from savings elsewhere in the Minister’s Department, and is provided in response to specific requests from CEBs. The funding is additional to the €15million already provided to CEBs in 2011.

“Small local businesses are the key to economic growth and the Clare Enterprise Board plays a key role in providing much-need capital and support for these businesses. It is very encouraging to see the number of new small businesses which are being set up throughout this County despite the tough economic climate and it is important for all of us to give every support to these businesses.

A number of CEB’s, including Clare CEB indicated to Minister Perry that they would not have sufficient funding to respond to the needs of start-ups in their area, so Minister Perry sought savings in other areas in his Department so that he could provide the additional funding in order to get these businesses up and running.”

“This funding to the Clare CEB will ensure that these new start-ups are supported with these projects supporting the creation of 19 additional jobs this year.”

“Today’s allocation is further evidence of this Government’s commitment to the small business sector and we will continue to work with small businesses to create an environment in which entrepreneurs and family businesses can thrive and entrepreneurship is rewarded.”
