December 21st, 2012 - Pat Breen

Clare T.D. and Chairman of the Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade Pat Breen T.D. has welcomed the news that community organisations across Clare have received nearly €200,000 in Lottery Funding.

The Brothers of Charity Services will receive €100,000, €35,000 has being allocated to Home Share Clare, the Friends of Ennistymon Hospital Ltd has received €40,000, Carrigoran House has received €19, 146, while the Kilmihil Active Retirement Association and the Generations in Action in Mountshannon have been grant aided to the tune €2,000 and 600 euros respectively.

“This funding is wonderful news for the organisations involved and it comes at a time when it’s never been more difficult to raise money. All the funding will go towards much needed projects in the community; for example, the Brothers of Charity will use the funding towards the cost of renovating and remodelling the existing workshop. Their premises on the Gort Road was built in 1983 and while the building itself has developed over the years, renovating the building now will ensure that the Brothers of Charity can continue to deliver the excellent service which they provide in a comfortable working environment.”

Deputy Breen said the funding will assist communities across the county. “From providing financial assistance to the Friends of Ennistymon Hospital Ltd to purchase an 18 Seater Mercedes Sprinter mini-bus, to providing assistance to Carrigoran House towards the cost of providing satellite catering facilities for the centre, to assisting the Home Share Clare Service towards the cost of constructing facilities to accommodate respite breaks in a family home for children, to assisting the Kilmihil Active Retirement Association towards the cost of publishing a local history book produced by the Group, to providing assistance to the Generations Action Group in Mountshannon towards the cost of inter generational programme between the senior citizens and school children, this funding will be of immense benefit to these organisations and I would like to pay tribute to the Organisations and especially to their volunteers for their dedication and work down through the years”
