Clare T.D. and Chairman of the Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade Pat Breen T.D. has today (Friday) welcomed the news that the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government Phil Hogan T.D., has sanctioned for Clare Local Development Company to approve funding of €200,000 to the Kildysart Community Focus Ltd, for the development of an Astro Pitch Facility under Measure 322 of the Village and Renewal Development.

“I would have been working closely with the Kildysart Community Focus Committee to secure this funding and I would like to acknowledge and thank the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government Phil Hogan T.D. and the Clare Local Development Board for their support. The Kildysart Community Focus Committee has been proactive in providing for the needs of their community over the past number of years today’s news is a big boost for their efforts.

This funding is being provided for the development of an Astro Turf facility which is located adjacent to the local School in the centre of the Village. The funding also includes provision of flood-lighting and fencing

The provision of this funding is a major boost for the entire area and is a great addition to the variety of facilities which are already available in Kildysart. Developing an astro turf facility is a very positive step towards encouraging more people to get involved in some form of sporting activity and I’m sure it will prove very popular with all Organisations in Kildysart and the surrounding parishes.

The Rural Development Programme is playing an important role in improving the quality of life in rural areas. It is now focused on developing micro-enterprises, rural services, rural recreation and rural tourism and by focussing on these areas it is hoped that the Programme will lead to sustainable development which in turn will improve the social and economic fabric of Communities like Kildysart who are the real beneficiaries of this Programme.”
