€84,375 allocated to Clare Communities under the Public Area Enhancement Scheme

May 17th, 2014 - Pat Breen

Clare T.D. and Chairman of the Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade Pat Breen T.D. has welcomed the announcement by the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government Phil Hogan T.D. that €84,375 has been allocated to Communities across Clare under the Public Area Enhancement Scheme.

The purpose of the scheme is to allow local authorities, in cooperation with community groups, to undertake public area enhancement work before and during the busy tourist season.

Works to be carried out include the development of amenity and picnic areas, outdoor fitness equipment, stone work and development of walking routes.

I am very pleased that Communities across are set to benefit under the Scheme and that the important work of Tidy Towns Committees is being supported. Tidy Town’s volunteers are the unsung heroes and heroines in our towns and villages and they are doing a huge amount of work improving the environment in their own areas and I wish them well with their work over the summer.

ENDS.
