October 22nd, 2015 - Pat Breen

Clare T.D. and Chair of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade Deputy Pat Breen said today (Monday) that repairs works at Gleninagh Pier in Ballyvaughan are to benefit from the provision of additional funding to County Clare under the Local Authority Harbour Development and Marine programme.

“€35,000 is to be expended on works at Gleninagh Pier in Ballyvaughan, 75% or €26,250 of which is being provided from the DAFM.

This funding will go towards the repair of damaged decking and the replacement of damaged cut limestone sections. The project is shovel ready and is due to be completed by the end of November.
Earlier this year, €112,500 was allocated for works on the pier in New Quay.

The Tourism and Marine Sectors are of significant economic importance to North Clare. The local Authority Harbour Funding Development and Marine Programme is playing an important role by providing funding to the repair and development of our piers and harbours ensuring that the infrastructure upon which these industries depend is fit for purpose.”
