“I am very pleased that the development of a new School at St Joseph’s Secondary in Tulla Is on track with construction to commence next year. The construction of this School was included in the in the Government’s five year school building programme for 2012-2016 and in Phase 1 of the Government’s €1.4 billion infrastructure stimulus plan announced in July 2012 which allowed the School project to undertake the design and planning stage.

The preparatory work is now completed and the project is ready to move to construction. Tulla is a growing town and has a proud history of secondary education. The Town’s Primary School has experienced growth over the years and the new School will cater for this increase in population.

The news that the project is begin construction in 2014 provides a much needed jobs boost for the construction works and contractors who will be engaged during the construction phase.

The New School will be built on a green field site which is located across from the current School Building. When it is completed it will provide state of the art accommodation for the students and teachers attending the School, which is good news for them given the difficult environment in which they have been taught and worked in over the past number of years.
