Fine Gael’s Deputy Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs and Clare T.D. Pat Breen is hosting a Public Meeting on Employment and Employment Prospects which will provide a Forum for those who are recently unemployed or facing redundancy to source information on what options are available to them and to let them Know their Rights.

The Public Meeting entitled Employment/Employment Prospects/Know Your Rights will take place at the Temple Gate Hotel in Ennis on Monday, 20th April 2009 at 8.00 p.m.
 
A range of speakers will address the meeting including representatives from Citizen Information, FAS, Clare Supported Unemployment Service. A Mortgage Advisor, a Legal Advisor and an Adult Education Advisor will also be on hand to offer advice.

Deputy Breen said that “There are 9364 people in Clare registered as unemployed at the end of March 2009, 5,453 of which are in Ennis alone. Over the past 12 months the number of people losing their jobs has grown significantly throughout this County. In Tulla for instance there has been a whopping 103.9% increase in those signing on over the past 12 months, Ennistymon is up 83.2%, Ennis is up 81% and Kilrush up 70.8%.”

“Every day I am inundated with queries from those who have recently been made unemployed. Many of these people have never experienced unemployment before and they do not know where to look for information or what to do next.”

“I hope that this Information Evening be of some help and that it will also give people advice on what options are available out there for them.”

Many families are now struggling to meet their Mortgage repayments and the number of repossession cases before the Courts are increasing weekly and as a result I have also invited a Mortgage Advisor and a Legal Advisor to address the Meeting.”
