Fine Gael’s Deputy Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs and Clare T.D. Pat Breen has welcomed the news that planning permission has been granted to Ennis National School which will see a new 32-class School constructed at Ashline on the Gort Road.

“I warmly welcome the news that planning permission has been granted for the construction of a new 32-class School for Ennis National N.S.”

“They have campaigned long and hard over the past 10 years and in the meantime the teachers and children have been forced to put up with deplorable conditions in a School 17 Prefabs are in use.”

“I would like to acknowledge the efforts of the Board of Management and parents of the children attending the School and I would like to pay particular tribute to the retiring Principal Gary Stack for his 28 years of dedication and campaigning for Ennis National and I wish him well in his retirement.”

“I hope that no further financial constraints will delay this project and that construction can commence before the end of this year. It will not alone be a welcome boost to the teachers and pupils of Ennis National School but indeed it will be a welcome boost for the construction sector where so many jobs have been lost in recent times.”
